Merage Foundations - Negev, where dreams come true

Dimona Community Cultural Project

With one of the most diverse populations in the Negev, Dimona is home to immigrants from Morocco, India, the former Soviet Union, Black Hebrews from the United States, and many others. Supported by the Merage Foundation - Israel, Dimona's cultural program is led by its community center staff and the different ethnic communities. Projects include:

• Support of Dimyona, Dimona's professional youth music and dance group for all populations. The Merage Foundation - Israel's support allows this very talented group to make their show even more professional and helped the youth group become an ambassador for the city throughout Israel and abroad.
• Establishment of a cultural center and a museum for Indian heritage as well as creation of the first Indian theater group in Israel.
• Sponsorship of a Russian Cultural Program showcasing a classical Russian music group and a Russian theater group performing for adult and student audiences throughout the city.
• - Black-the "Hebrews"-led community food festival featuring food stalls, traditional costumes, activities for children, and a stage to present singers of traditional songs from all the diverse populations. This immensely important project facilitates interaction among the communities and encourages visits from tourists and outsiders.
