Merage Foundations - Negev, where dreams come true

Job Placement

The main objectives for the job placement project are to bring students into the labor market during their senior year of college to generate employer preference and relevant professional experience before graduation and to create a focus group to expose to the various settlement options throughout the Negev. This also serves as our contribution to the advancement of settlement of the Negev.

Program Phases:

• Exposure and Registration: Expose the students on campus to the placement program and conduct organized tours to the intended settlement locations throughout the Negev. Students will receive coaching on job-seeking techniques, resume writing, etc. Enrollment in the program will take place through marketing booths on campus.
• Interview and Suitability Screening: Each student will be interviewed in person and allocated a specific position in accordance with his specialization and aptitude.
• "Apprenticeship" Summer Program: During the 3-month summer vacation, the students are employed in jobs that are consistent with their areas of study. Employers receive a U.S. $500 incentive bonus for those 3 months and commit to employ the student and add U.S. $250 to the pay package for the period.
• Year-Long Program: Students who will continue to work at their summer program place of employment or who are willing to work during the year will be granted a scholarship of 10,000 Israel Shekels.
• Connection with Settlement Nuclei via the Placement Program: The students in this program will visit the various Negev settlements and employment locations during field trips. Through lectures they will receive comprehensive information regarding the potential benefits and prospects of settlement and employment in the Negev.
